Fall Proof Balance & Mobility

Falling poses a serious risk to older adults and others who are mobility impaired and can often result in nursing home stays. In this innovative program developed through California State University at Fullerton, participants are assessed for balance, mobility, and fall risk. In this 8-week program, training to improve balance and mobility is conducted and is adjusted on an individual basis.

Eye Glasses For Seniors In Need

Glendora Rotary members who have been specially trained will measure eligible senior citizens using a Focometer for nearsighted/farsighted or visual problems and provide a free pair of eye glasses at La Fetra Center. To be eligible, seniors must meet the following guidelines: single individual income should not exceed $1,180 per month and a two person household should not exceed $1,594 per month. Any Senior who is on Medi-Cal is also eligible. Appointments will be taken for the 3rd Saturday of every other month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Glendora residents will be given priority. Driver Training Safety Program

Two classes are offered, with one for participants who have not attended the 8-hour program within the past 3 years, and a new half-day, renewal program for participants who have completed the 8-hour course and just need to renew their certificate. Both classes are geared to the needs of older (ages 50-plus) motorists. The World's Greatest Structures From Antiquity To Modern Times

Through a blend of history and science, Professor Stephen Ressieran, honored leader in engineering education and an award winning lecturer of the United States Military Academy at West Point, will reveal the engineering genius that made possible such landmark monuments as the Gaza Pyramids, Brunelleschi's Dome, and the Brooklyn Bridge as well as many other landmarks. Monuments created in the millennia-long history of engineering include: famous bridges, churches, skyscrapers, towers, and other structures. Creating Your Own Unique Birdhouses & Canvas Drawings

In this 12-week course, we will be painting in acrylics on wooden projects (birdhouses, recipe or gift box). Advanced students from previous classes will be working on small landscapes, cottages, farm houses, and churches on acrylic paper or canvas boards. The Music Historian-in-Residence with San Francisco performances, and authority on a range of composers and classical music genres, Professor Robert Greenberg, will keep you "laughing while you learn" about the music by: charles Ives, Aaron Copeland, and Samuel Barber, Roy Harris and william Schuman, the 20th Century British Symphony, Olivier Messiaen and Turangalila, and Dmitri Shostakovich and his Tenth Symphony. As a component to each lecture, we will see selected performances of their greatest works, on loan from an extensive private collection. Windows 7 For Seniors

If you are new to a PC or you have been using one for a while but want to use it more effectively, then this
8-week course is for you. We will cover the fundamentals starting with how to turn it on and off. You will learn to become comfortable and enjoy your computer, write letters and memos on the computer, send and receive email, explore the World Wide Web, and customize your computer settings. Limited to 12 students who must each have his/her own PC running Windows 7 and an internet connection. Classroom PCs are provided.
