Post Date:03/02/2014 6:00 AM

Colby Fire Impact Area YELLOW LEVEL Flooding Protocol in Effect

On 3/02/14 at 0600 hours the city of Glendora has declared the following YELLOW LEVEL emergency protocol in effect for the Colby Fire Impact Area.  The alert level was lowered to yellow from red as a result of information and advice from our governmental partners, including the National Weather Service, Flood Control District and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  The city, in cooperation with its partner agencies, will continue to monitor the conditions and will modify the alert as appropriate.

The YELLOW LEVEL emergency protocol includes:

*NO EVACUATION orders in effect

*Rain–related parking restrictions in effect

*Residents directed to remove vehicles, trash bins, other obstructions from streets and/or travel lanes as they will be subject to tow or removal by authorities

*NO RESTRICTED ENTRY to impact area/potentially impacted areas.

The Colby Fire Impact Area includes all properties north of Sierra Madre between the western city boundaries of Azusa/Glendora (Yucca Ridge) to the eastern boundary of properties on the west side of the Little Dalton Wash (near Loraine Ave.).  These areas have the highest risk of being impacted by flooding/debris flows from rainfall due to the loss of vegetation from the foothills.

Residents in the Colby Fire Impact Area are encouraged to drive cautiously when re-entering the Impact Area and to conduct a perimeter check of their residence prior to entering.  If you have any street related concerns involving mud or debris, you can contact the Glendora Department of Public Works directly at (626) 914-8246.  For any other safety related concerns, please contact the Glendora Police Department at (626) 914-8250.

Residents are strongly encouraged to stay connected to the Glendora Police Department’s electronic notification systems, and to persistently monitor weather conditions.  Always remember to dial 9-1-1 in the event of a life threatening emergency.
